SB Natural History Museum

The earliest roots of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History extend back to 1876 when a group of professional scientists and amateurs founded the Santa Barbara Natural History Society with a small museum on State Street. In 1916, William Leon Dawson founded the Museum of Comparative Oology, first located in two outbuildings on his property at Puesta del Sol in Mission Canyon. This Santa Barbara Mission Canyon location grew and soon became the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History as we know it today. Various studies and exhibits include Nature and Art, Anthropology, Paleontology, Marine biology, Astronomy and much more. Santa Barbara plant and animal life from this unique coastal region is on display for all to see and enjoy. Viewers of this video might also enjoy the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
